Curtains Close on League of Legends Season Two

It was early in the morning when the first enthusiastic League of Legends fans turned out to line up for the World Finals at USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. By the time the doors opened, fans circled nearly the entire perimeter of the venue, ready to cheer on the showdown between the Taipei Assassins and Korea’s Azubu Frost.

Elise, the Spider Queen Revealed

This patch, we’ll welcome a champion with a lot of history into the League of Legends lineup: Elise, the Spider Queen. Originally concepted over three years ago, Elise proved to be a challenging champion to fully realize. Finally coming together as a transform champion, Elise has the ability to assume the form of either a regal mage or a deadly spider assassin.

Abilities (Human form):

• Spider Swarm (Passive): Elise’s Human Form spells will ready a spiderling when cast on an enemy.
• Neurotoxin: Elise damages a target based on its current Health.
• Volatile Spiderling: Elise releases a venom-gorged spiderling that explodes when it nears a target.

Dreamhack Bucharest, between 20-21st of October

On the 20-21st of October, at DreamHack Bucharest, eight teams, invited and qualified, will battle in a single-elimination, best of 3 tournament for a prize purse worth 4,000 euro.

2,000 euro will go to the winner of the tourney, second place will receive 1,200 euro, while 3rd and 4th places will receive 600 and 200 euro, respectively.

Season Two World Championship Matchup Preview

On their way to the Finals, Azubu Frost dominated every stage of the tournament. After going 3 – 0 in the groupstage , they went on to knock out North American champions and tournament favorites, Team SoloMid, 2 – 0. In the semi-finals, they faced Europe’s final remaining team, Counter Logic Gaming EU, for a rematch of the Azubu The Champions Summer finals.

• TSM Chaox said that he had witnessed a member of AzF looking at the venue screens during the game. Referees didn't independently corroborate these allegations.

Playoffs Resume October 10th at 5:00 PM

We've rescheduled the remainder of the World Playoff matches for this coming Wednesday, October 10th, starting at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. The games will be streaming live in free HD on both Twitch and Own3D, with the same production quality and broadcast features (player cams, replays, interviews, etc.) that you saw up until we ran into technical difficulties. A full list of foreign language streams is still to be determined.

World Playoffs Semifinal Matches Postponed

After a series of connectivity issues at our LA Live venue, we've had to reschedule the final games of the Season 2 World Playoffs. We'll be completing the last game of the CLG EU and Team WE quarterfinal match and finishing out the Semifinal Matches in the near future from a new location with a secure Internet connection. The matches will be broadcast live, so stay tuned for scheduling information.

World Playoffs Day Two Recap

Day two saw the regional finalists compete against the best of Group A and B, and saw the hopes of one region go home.

M5 BenQ vs Invictus Gaming

Moscow Five once again demonstrated spectacular team fight ability and put on a dominating performance. Even when they were losing – sometimes significantly – they were able to control their team fights and earn comebacks.

World Playoffs Day One Recap

For the first round of the World Playoffs, eight teams faced off in two groups for a chance to move on to the quarter finals against the seeded teams Team SoloMid, Moscow Five, Team WE, and Taipei Assassins. With only half of the teams advancing today, every match was a battle for tournament survival, and the best-of-one format meant there were no second chances.
